Indonesia Wins International Applied Science Olympiad

Blog Share-  Indonesia Wins International Applied Science Olympiad. Indonesia team won the overall champion in the Olympic Games or the World Applied Science International Science Project Olympiad (ISPRO) 2015 held in Jakarta May 4th until May 8th.

In that competition Indonesia collected 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Then followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Tajikistan, each of which gained 1 gold, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze.

Students from SMAN 1 Bantaeng South Sulawesi, Irham Sharif (18) and Abrar Ahmad (18), won a gold medal with his science project that is capable of absorbing helmet masks lead.

"We made a helmet that comes from the leaves of jackfruit and mahogany, as it absorbs lead and accessible," said Irham ISPRO after closing on Friday.

Ahmad Irham and researching for five months, and never won a gold medal in the same competition at the national level. He hopes his research can contribute in efforts to preserve the environment.

Indonesia won the gold medal for chemistry, biology, technology, and the environment.

Director General of Secondary Education Kemdikbud, Achmad Jazidie, said that the Olympics applied science it is one proof if young creative in solving problems.

"This activity is in addition to giving real solutions to the problems of the world, is also a forum to build networks of fellow students from around the world," said Jazidie.

Olympics was followed by students aged 14 to 18 years who came from 29 countries. There are five categories that can be followed by participants ISPRO namely biology, physics, chemistry, environment, and technology.

In this competition, participants were asked to explain the project, maintain and use the idea in theory and practice. If necessary, participants can bring audiovisual aids.

Participants were aged 14-18 years can include a maximum of 10 works from one country. And for any work done by a maximum of two people and one project supersivor. Every script that brought participants should contain principles and scientific methodology.

Some criteria for assessment by the jury include questions about the research, design and methodology, data collection, analysis, and understanding, creativity, and presentation.
